"this our net profit has not only been reduced to a
miserable figure of 1% but the size of the business
has also suffered from, or would at any rate have been
bigger had it not been for the increased prices. We
can, of course, not usually exist on a mere 1% net
profit but it was a question of doing the business or
not, and we cannot afford withdrawing a quality which
has just been introduced. So we did the business in
the hope of getting rewarded for the sacrifice made in
1914 by increased return during 1915."
